The inaugural Queer-friendly Kizomba foundation class welcomed dancers of all levels to engage with one of Angola’s most popular music genres and dance styles as both cultural expression and shared experience.

By opening a traditionally partner-based style to all identities and levels of experience, the very first workshop of Queer Kizomba centred accessibility and inclusivity, creating a space where movement could be explored freely.

Music, dance, and cultural exchange came together to place freedom, joy, and togetherness at the heart of the evening – affirming the value of intentional community spaces for Black queer people.
